Thunder was purchased as a weanling and has been in the same home for five years now. He is a handsome bright bay with white stockings, a splash of white on the left side of his neck, and a symetrical marking on his face; just enough white/chrome to make him flashy, but still easy to keep clean! Thunder is a confident, intelligent guy who can be a bit stand-offish when he first meets a stranger, but once you win his trust and friendship, his great personality shines through. Thunder was started professionally under saddle as a 3-year-old for four months; then went back for another month of further training last year. He has a nice walk, soft jog, comfortable lope and a really good stop. He is transitioning presently from a snaffle into a curb, but already DOES neck rein and moves off leg pressure so you can open and close gates from his back. Most of Thunder's riding experience has been on the trails and gathering some cattle in the hills. He has had a rope thrown off him several times and it doesn't bother him; in fact not much bothers Thunder - he is not spooky. Thunder's ground manners are good and he is fine to clip, trim, shoe, saddle and load and haul. His owner is only selling him because her job recently moved out of town, and due to a long commute each way now she doesn't have enough time to spend with Thunder and enjoy him. Thunder will likely do best with an intermediate rider; like most young horses, he might start trying to 'buffalo' a novice or timid person. Thunder is sound, healthy, current on his shots and worming and lives close to Prineville in central Oregon.
